Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana is the adults-only resort Hyatt is building beside Dreams Macao Beach on Playa Macao, one of the most dramatic beaches on the Punta Cana coast. It was announced in September 2025 for a 2026 debut, but as of November 2026 it has not opened, and the latest target is early 2027. Here is what is confirmed about the opening date, location, suites, dining, pools and the shared access with Dreams Macao, and what is still unknown.
Is Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana open yet?
Not yet. Hyatt announced the project on September 15, 2025, explaining that a Hyatt affiliate had signed a management agreement with GSM Investissements Dominicana S.R.L., the company that also owns Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana. The resort is a new build, and at the time it was expected to open in 2026. That year is now almost over without an opening.
The date has been moving. In September 2026, Caribbean Journal reported that reservations were starting on April 1, 2027; in mid-October 2026 it reported that Hyatt’s booking platform now showed a March 2027 debut instead. Separately, tour operator Vacation Express has loaded the resort for arrivals from June 1, 2027, explaining that it adds a short buffer to make sure construction and service are complete. Hyatt has not announced a fixed opening day in a press release, so treat every date as a target rather than a promise.
Booking a resort that hasn't opened
Opening dates for new resorts often slip. If you book for spring 2027, choose a refundable rate or a package with a clear rebooking policy, avoid locking in a wedding or other fixed event, and expect some restaurants, bars or the spa to open in phases during the first months.
Where is Secrets Macao Beach? Location on Playa Macao
The resort sits on Playa Macao (Macao Beach), on the northern side of the greater Punta Cana resort area, beyond Arena Gorda. Its neighbor, Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana, opened in 2020 and has so far been the only resort on this cliff-framed beach. Expect a drive of about 40 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). Macao is gorgeous but different from the calm, reef-sheltered stretches of southern Bávaro or Cap Cana. It is an open Atlantic beach with golden sand, limestone headlands and steady surf, which makes it a favorite for surf lessons and a popular stop on buggy excursions, and it means sea swimming depends on the day. Secrets Macao Beach suites: what has been announced?
Hyatt’s announcement lists 406 rooms, including Junior Suites, Master Suites and Presidential Suites. The headline is the swim-out inventory: 111 swim-out suites plus 13 panoramic, high-level swim-out suites, which is a high share for a resort of this size. According to the booking details reported in October 2026, the Preferred Club section will also include swim-up and swim-out options.

Restaurants, bars, pools and spa: what to expect
Dining and bars
The September 2025 announcement promised nine restaurants and nine bars. Confirmed concepts include a farm-to-table restaurant inside an on-site organic garden, a sports bar with full-service dining, a cigar lounge, Coco Café for light bites and an exclusive restaurant for Preferred Club guests. The booking details reported in October 2026 add Italian and Asian restaurants, a Dominican-heritage chocolatería and a hidden speakeasy, with Preferred Club guests getting breakfast and lunch at Olio and exclusive access to Rosewater.
As at other Secrets resorts, Unlimited-Luxury means reservation-free à la carte dining, unlimited top-shelf drinks, 24-hour room service, pool and beach waiter service and daily activities. Final numbers may still change (one tour operator already lists 12 bars), so treat the counts as provisional. Pools, spa and facilities
The original plan described three pools: a main pool with a beach-club feel, an activity pool with daytime entertainment and Atlantic views, and a rooftop pool for Preferred Club members. The latest descriptions list a beachfront infinity pool, a relaxation pool and the Preferred Club pool, plus two outdoor hot tubs. The spa is set to offer a hydrotherapy circuit and treatment cabins with private outdoor patios, the gym is planned to run 24 hours, and the project includes a convention center for up to 1,000 guests, so expect some group and wedding traffic.
What will the Preferred Club include?
Preferred Club is Secrets’ paid upgrade tier. At Macao Beach it is set to include a private rooftop bar and the rooftop pool with ocean views, a dedicated beach area, a club lounge serving continental breakfast, afternoon hors d’oeuvres, desserts and premium liquors, personal concierge service, upgraded minibars and bath amenities, and the two club-only dining venues. How will access to Dreams Macao Beach work?
This is the biggest practical advantage. Hyatt says Secrets Macao Beach guests will enjoy free-flow access to both resorts, including all restaurants and amenities. In practice, that adds the restaurants of Dreams Macao Beach, its waterpark and lazy river, its bowling alley and its entertainment to an adults-only stay, and it lets a multigenerational group split between the two resorts while still meeting for dinner.
