This Caribe Deluxe Princess review is for travelers who want a fully renovated all-inclusive on Bávaro Beach without paying luxury prices. Caribe Deluxe Princess is the smaller, more modern sibling of Grand Bávaro Princess. It has 355 rooms, a compact layout and shares its dining with Tropical Deluxe Princess. Below we cover the room types, what is included and what costs extra, the pools and beach, the paid VIP Deluxe upgrade and who the resort suits best. Everything is based on Princess Hotels’ published information, tour-operator listings and recent guest feedback, not on a hosted stay.

Caribe Deluxe Princess review: the short verdict

Caribe Deluxe Princess is one of the better-value ways to stay on Bávaro Beach in a resort that looks new inside. The rooms and public areas were refurbished before the September 2021 reopening. The layout is easy to walk, and you get a good choice of included restaurants because you can also dine at Tropical Deluxe Princess. You are not getting five-star food or Hyatt-style service. Two of the restaurants cost extra, à la carte dinners need booking through the hotel’s app, and the VIP perks are a paid add-on.

Pros

  • Fully refurbished rooms, lobby, pools and restaurants (reopened September 2021)
  • Compact, walkable layout – much smaller than Grand Bávaro Princess
  • Included Italian, Tex-Mex, Brazilian, Dominican and Asian restaurants plus a buffet
  • Use of Tropical Deluxe Princess restaurants
  • 24-hour Kanalla Sports Bar and a rooftop cocktail bar at the Beach House

Cons

  • Gourmet La Cava and Mediterráneo seafood cost extra unless you book a VIP Deluxe or suite package
  • No casino or disco on site (both are at Grand Bávaro Princess)
  • Standard rooms overlook gardens rather than the sea
  • Guest opinions on the buffet are mixed

Where is Caribe Deluxe Princess and how far is the airport?

Princess describes the hotel as right on the Playa Bávaro beachfront, and it puts the drive to Punta Cana International Airport at about 25 minutes. It is part of the Princess group of hotels on Bávaro. Grand Bávaro Princess, home of the Avalon Casino and the Movie Disco, is a short shuttle ride away, and the hotel lists a free shuttle to the disco. If you are unsure whether Bávaro or the livelier Arena Gorda area suits you better, our Bávaro Beach vs Arena Gorda guide compares the two. Transfer options and the free e-ticket form are explained in our airport transfer guide.

Rooms at Caribe Deluxe Princess: which one should you book?

All rooms were renovated before the 2021 reopening, with a bright, modern look. Princess lists air conditioning, a TV, a bathroom with shower and a balcony for both the Caribe Deluxe rooms and the suites.

Caribe Deluxe (229 rooms)

This is the standard room. Each has a balcony over the tropical gardens, one king or two queen beds and room for up to four people, for example two adults and two children. Pick it if you will spend most of your time at the pool or on the beach and just need a clean, modern base.

Caribe Deluxe Suite (115 suites)

The suites add a separate living area, which makes a real difference for families with kids who go to bed early. Couples who like space to spread out will notice it too. Occupancy is the same as the standard room, so the upgrade is about comfort rather than fitting more people in.

Honeymoon Suite and Royal Suite

The nine Honeymoon Suites are for adults only (18+) and for two people. They have a king bed, a living room, a hot tub, room service and a surprise gift, with a four-night minimum stay. Some are on one floor and some have a mezzanine, subject to availability. Princess also lists Royal Suites but publishes few details. Both suite packages include one dinner per week at each of the two extra-cost restaurants, La Cava and Mediterráneo. For more romantic options, see our best resorts for couples and honeymoons.

Restaurants and bars: what’s included and what costs extra?

Princess says the hotel has nine restaurants, seven included and two not, and that Caribe Deluxe guests can also use the restaurants of Tropical Deluxe Princess. The official list includes:

  • Food Market – international buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • La Tagliata (Italian), Nopal (Tex-Mex), Fogo (Brazilian), El Pilón (Dominican) and an Asian restaurant – all included.
  • Beach House – sandwiches, burgers and salads, with the Beach House Rooftop cocktail bar above.
  • Cappuccino for sweets and snacks, and Kanalla Sports Bar, which the hotel says is open 24 hours.
  • La Cava (gourmet) and Mediterráneo (fish and seafood) – extra cost, except for one dinner a week in the VIP Deluxe, Royal Suite and Honeymoon Suite packages.

Bars include the Lobby Bar, the Acqua Bar at the main pool, La Cantina, La Terraza, the Theater Bar and the Corneto ice-cream parlor. You can also walk over to the Manatee Bar at Tropical Deluxe’s main pool. À la carte reservations are made through the hotel’s web app, so book on day one for the restaurants you care about. Our guide to taxes, tipping and hidden costs explains which extras to budget for. Recent guest reviews tend to praise the staff and pool service. Opinions on the buffet range from “excellent” to “limited”, so plan to use the à la carte restaurants.

Pools, beach and activities at Caribe Deluxe Princess

Princess lists three pools for adults and children and a fourth pool with water games and slides. One pool has a thatched swim-up bar, and the beach is right in front of the hotel. Daytime activities include tennis, mini-golf, archery, table tennis, petanque, aqua-gym and non-motorized water sports such as catamaran, kayak and snorkeling. One introductory dive in the pool per guest is included. Evenings bring shows in the theater. For a late night out, the Movie Disco inside the Avalon Casino at Grand Bávaro Princess runs from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Entry and two national drinks until midnight are included, and the hotel provides a free shuttle. The casino itself is covered in our casinos and nightlife guide.

Families get a Kids Club for ages 4–12 and a Teen Club for 13–17. The gym has an age minimum (the hotel says 16+ in one place and 18+ in another). The spa and hair salon cost extra. Like the rest of Bávaro, the beach can get sargassum in some months, and one recent reviewer noted that staff cleared it daily but heavy arrivals were still visible. Check our sargassum guide when you pick dates.

Is the VIP Deluxe upgrade worth it?

Caribe Deluxe Princess sells VIP Deluxe services at extra cost. Princess lists a VIP Deluxe Lounge with its own restaurant and bar and a reserved beachfront area with waiter service. You also get 24-hour room service, a concierge, à la carte breakfast and lunch, premium Wi-Fi, premium drinks, bathrobes and slippers, and one dinner a week at La Cava and at Mediterráneo. It is not a butler service.

It makes sense if you want a reserved beach spot and calmer breakfasts and lunches. It also pays off if you would book the two extra-cost restaurants anyway. For a short stay, or if you plan many excursions, the standard all-inclusive is usually enough. Note that the Platinum program at Grand Bávaro Princess is a separate product with different inclusions.

Caribe Deluxe Princess vs Grand Bávaro Princess

The two Princess resorts suit different travelers. Grand Bávaro Princess is a huge all-suites resort with 1,290 bungalow suites, mangrove grounds, trams to the beach and its own casino. Caribe Deluxe is far smaller and more modern, and it is easier to get around on foot. Choose Caribe Deluxe if you want short walks, newer rooms and a simpler, compact resort. Choose Grand Bávaro if you like big grounds, nature and the Platinum program. Read our Grand Bávaro Princess review and the side-by-side Grand Bávaro Princess vs Caribe Deluxe Princess comparison for the details.

Who should book Caribe Deluxe Princess?

  • Couples and friends on a budget who want modern rooms on Bávaro Beach and enough restaurants for a week.
  • Families with younger kids who are happy with a kids’ club, a slide pool and short walking distances rather than a full waterpark.
  • Not ideal for foodies who expect gourmet dining every night, or for travelers who want an adults-only resort.
