Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana is an adults-only (18+) Unlimited-Luxury resort on central Bávaro Beach, in the El Cortecito area. It shares its stretch of sand with the family-friendly Dreams Royal Beach next door, and Secrets guests can use the Dreams restaurants and bars too, which is a big part of its appeal.

In this Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana review we look at the questions that decide whether it suits you: which suite category to book, whether the Preferred Club is worth paying for, how dining and the Dreams exchange work, and how it compares with other adults-only resorts. Facts come from the resort’s own sales fact sheet, Hyatt’s brand pages and current tour-operator listings, checked in October 2026. Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana review: the short verdict

Secrets Royal Beach is the practical choice among Punta Cana’s Secrets resorts. You get adults-only pools and restaurants, a palm-lined beach of more than 700 yards and a short airport transfer, plus a second resort’s worth of dining next door. What you do not get is intimacy: this is a large resort, and the most romantic room types are a small slice of the inventory.

Pros

  • Adults-only, with access to the restaurants and bars of Dreams Royal Beach next door
  • Central Bávaro location, roughly 23 minutes from Punta Cana airport
  • Preferred Club swim-up suites open onto a lazy river
  • No reservations needed at most restaurants
  • Every suite has a hydro-tub, a balcony or terrace and 24-hour room service

Cons

  • Large resort of about 640 suites, so it feels busy at peak times
  • Junior suites offer partial ocean views at best; oceanfront means a Master Suite
  • Dreams next door brings families into the shared beach and dining areas
  • Bordeaux has a formal dress code and most dinners require long pants for men

Location: central Bávaro, close to the airport

The resort’s fact sheet puts it about 23 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), a short transfer by Punta Cana standards. It sits in central Bávaro near El Cortecito and Los Corales, so restaurants, beach bars and shops outside the resort are a short taxi ride away, something you cannot say about remote Uvero Alto. Our Bávaro, El Cortecito and Arena Gorda area guide covers what is nearby.

Suites at Secrets Royal Beach: which one should you book?

Every room is a suite with a king or two double beds, a hydro-tub on the terrace or in the room, a daily refreshed minibar, 24-hour room service and free Wi-Fi. The resort was fully renovated in 2020 in a project that trade press valued at US$36 million and that added 90 suites.

Junior Suites (about 430 sq ft)

The entry categories are tropical view, pool view and partial ocean view, plus a Junior Suite Private Pool with direct access to a pool from the terrace. They are comfortable rather than large. If you want sea views, the partial ocean view version is as close as the non-club rooms get.

Preferred Club Swim-Up and Private Pool suites

Preferred Club junior suites measure about 495 or 581 sq ft. The ones to know about are the Preferred Club Junior Suite Swim Up, whose terrace leads through a small garden into the lazy river, and the Preferred Club Junior Suite Private Pool. The 2024 fact sheet lists only around 20 swim-up suites, so book early if that is the room you want. For how they compare with swim-up rooms elsewhere, see our guide to the best swim-up suites in Punta Cana.

Preferred Club Master Suites (about 1,270 sq ft)

Master Suites add a separate bedroom, living area, guest bathroom, soaking tub and a large terrace, in tropical view or ocean front. The Master Suite Ocean Front is the only category described as oceanfront, and there are only about a dozen of them.

Is the Preferred Club at Secrets Royal Beach worth it?

According to the resort’s fact sheet, Preferred Club suites add:

  • Personalized check-in and check-out with concierge service
  • A Preferred Club lounge with continental breakfast, afternoon hors d’oeuvres, desserts and premium drinks
  • Breakfast and lunch at Olio, the beachfront seafood and Mediterranean restaurant, reserved for club guests
  • Private Preferred Club pools, including an infinity pool with swim-up bar, an infinity hot tub and the lazy river
  • A dedicated club beach area with pool concierge and bar service
  • Upgraded minibar, room service menu and bath amenities, plus a pillow menu

Our take: the Preferred Club is worth it here mainly for the space. Club pools and the club beach area are the quieter corners of a big resort, and the lazy river suites only exist inside the club. If you plan to spend your days on excursions, a standard junior suite is enough. Our Punta Cana VIP club levels comparison shows how Preferred Club stacks up against other brands’ clubs.

Preferred Club perks stay at Secrets

Exchange access to Dreams Royal Beach does not include the Dreams Preferred Club areas, while the Secrets side stays adults-only. Your club lounge, pools and beach area remain yours.

Restaurants and bars at Secrets Royal Beach (and next door)

The resort lists eight dining options of its own, and no reservations are required except for the teppanyaki tables:

  • Bordeaux: French fine dining with a wine cellar that can be booked for private dinners at extra cost; formal dress code
  • Himitsu: pan-Asian and hibachi, with teppanyaki tables by reservation
  • El Patio: contemporary Mexican
  • Bluewater Grill: grilled specialties at dinner
  • Olio: beachfront seafood and Mediterranean; dinner for everyone, breakfast and lunch for Preferred Club only
  • La Riviera: the buffet, for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Barefoot Grill for beachside burgers and Coco Café for coffee and snacks

Next door, Dreams Royal Beach adds more restaurants (including seafood, Italian, Mediterranean and teppanyaki options) and its own bars. Back at Secrets, there are 11 bars and lounges, including the Freshco and Manatees swim-up bars, Marlin on the beach, Rendezvous in the lobby and Drifters by the lazy river for club guests. Dinner dress codes are enforced: casual elegance (long pants and a sleeved or collared shirt for men, no flip-flops) at most restaurants, formal at Bordeaux. Through the Sip, Savor and See program you can also arrange dinner at participating sister resorts in the region through the concierge, paying your own transport.

Pools, spa, nightlife and activities

The resort counts four pools in total, including two large ones plus the Preferred Club’s infinity pool and lazy river, and four outdoor hot tubs. The fact sheet highlights a big free-form pool that winds toward the beach and a 27-meter semi-Olympic relaxation pool. Daytime activities include beach volleyball, tennis, kayaks, snorkeling, an introductory scuba lesson in the pool and dance classes. The Caribbean Oasis, six two-level Bali beds on the beach with a private butler and a short massage, costs extra.

Secrets Spa has a hydrotherapy circuit with an ice plunge pool, outdoor rain showers, a sauna and steam room, and couples’ treatment rooms; treatments are paid extras. Evenings bring live shows in the open-air theater, theme nights and the Eclipse nightclub, open from 10:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. There is also an on-site casino shared with Dreams, and the resort offers discounted green fees at Cocotal Golf and Country Club nearby.

Honeymoons, anniversaries and weddings

The resort hosts weddings on the beach, in gazebos and in a ballroom. Its 2024 fact sheet lists a paid Honeymoon Bliss package (in-room sparkling wine, fruit and flowers, breakfast in bed, a couples’ massage and a private dinner), complimentary for newlyweds who book at least 7 nights in a Preferred Club Master Suite. It also lists a free newlywed and anniversary package (sparkling wine, fruit, breakfast in bed and a spa discount) for couples traveling within three months of their wedding or over their anniversary, with proof at check-in. Request either one when you book. If you are still choosing where to go, read our guide to the best honeymoon resorts in Punta Cana.

Secrets Royal Beach vs Breathless Punta Cana vs Zoëtry Agua

These are the three adults-oriented Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts couples most often weigh up. Breathless in Uvero Alto is the party pick, with DJ pool parties and a social, group-friendly crowd. Zoëtry Agua is the opposite: a small, quiet wellness resort with under 100 suites. Secrets Royal Beach sits in the middle, social but not loud, and it is the only one of the three in central Bávaro. We break the three down in Secrets Royal Beach vs Breathless vs Zoëtry Agua.

Practical tips before you book

  • Check-in and check-out: 3:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m.
  • Taxes and tips: Unlimited-Luxury rates include taxes and gratuities, so tipping is optional; our all-inclusive taxes and tipping guide explains what is customary.
  • Transfers: the short run from PUJ makes a pre-booked private transfer easy; see our airport transfers and e-ticket guide.
  • Small dogs: the resort’s 2024 fact sheet describes a small-dog program in specific room categories for a nightly fee; contact reservations directly if you travel with one.
  • Pack for dinner: men need long pants and a sleeved or collared shirt at most à la carte restaurants, plus dress shoes for Bordeaux.

Our verdict on Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana

Secrets Royal Beach is a smart adults-only pick for couples who value a short transfer, a central Bávaro base and plenty of dining choice over intimacy. Book a standard junior suite if you will be out exploring, or a Preferred Club swim-up suite on the lazy river if you want the resort’s best experience. Couples seeking a small, secluded or oceanfront-first stay should look at Cap Cana or Uvero Alto instead.
