More are lined up for 2027, and several established resorts are coming back from major renovations. Which new resorts opened in Punta Cana in 2025 and 2026?
W Punta Cana (Uvero Alto, opened 2025)
The first all-inclusive from W Hotels, and the brand’s first adults-only resort anywhere, opened on the Uvero Alto coast in 2025, with a grand opening announced in August and a formal inauguration in October. It has 340 rooms and suites, all from about 700 square feet, 12 restaurants, bars and lounges, and no paid club tier. The catch is the location, roughly an hour from the airport on an Atlantic beach with waves. Read our full W Punta Cana review for rooms, dining and prices.
Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana (Macao area, opened June 2026)
Palace Resorts’ first Dominican resort is the region’s biggest newcomer: 2,171 rooms planned in two 18-story towers, 16 restaurants at opening, nine pools, a water park and a Greg Norman golf course, about 28 km from the airport. It opened on June 1, 2026 but is still being completed, with the casino, three restaurants and several sports facilities expected by mid-January 2027. Despite some confusion online, it is not a Hyatt property. All the details are in our Moon Palace Punta Cana guide.
Lopesan Caoba Lagoon, Serenity Bay and Splash Cove (Bávaro, opened summer 2026)
Lopesan Hotel Group, which already runs Lopesan Costa Bávaro, welcomed its first guests to three new all-inclusive resorts at once in summer 2026: a project of more than $350 million with 1,035 rooms in total. Caoba Lagoon (about 554 rooms) is the main resort, built around a lagoon pool roughly 127 meters long with waterfalls, and it houses a convention center for more than 2,000 people. Serenity Bay (239 rooms) is adults-only, with its own quieter pools and restaurants, while Splash Cove (about 242 rooms) is aimed at families, with a wave pool and water-park features.
The three resorts are linked by The Boulevard, the open-air promenade of restaurants, bars, shops, an 820-seat theater and a casino that also connects to Lopesan Costa Bávaro, so guests can move between venues across the complex. Our Lopesan Costa Bávaro review explains how The Boulevard works and what the original resort offers.
Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana (Cabeza de Toro, opened August 2026)
Hyatt’s Vivid brand made its Dominican debut at the end of August 2026 with a 467-room, adults-only all-inclusive on the Cabeza de Toro coast, about 16 km from the airport, developed with Grupo Anacaona. It has five à la carte restaurants, an international food hall, a bar and grill, seven bars and lounges including a hidden speakeasy, the Zenda Spa, padel and pickleball courts, and a Vantage Club tier with its own pools and swim-out rooms. It is one of the closest new resorts to the airport; our Cabeza de Toro area guide describes the beach and the neighborhood.
Which new resorts open in 2027 and later?
Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana (targeting March 2027)
Announced in September 2025 for a 2026 opening, Hyatt’s adults-only Secrets resort on Playa Macao is now targeting March 2027, according to Hyatt’s booking platform, while some tour operators have loaded arrivals from June 1, 2027. It will have 406 rooms, including 111 swim-out suites and 13 panoramic swim-out suites, plus free-flow access to the restaurants and amenities of Dreams Macao Beach next door. Our Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana guide tracks the opening date and everything announced so far.
Zoëtry Marina Cap Cana (targeting March 1, 2027)
Hyatt is also preparing a new Zoëtry inside gated Cap Cana, where the marina meets the sea. In October 2026, Caribbean Journal reported a target opening of March 1, 2027 for an all-suite resort with four restaurants, two pools, direct beach access and a spa with hydrotherapy; reservations had not opened yet. The suite count and prices have not been published. Our Cap Cana travel guide covers the marina, Juanillo Beach and the rest of the gated community.
Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana (planned for 2029)
Announced in March 2026, this 650-room new build will be a family-focused Hyatt Ziva with a water park and an adults-only building. Hyatt’s partner is Codelpa, the owner of Secrets Tides Punta Cana (see our Secrets Tides Punta Cana review), and the site is described as about 40 minutes from the airport. It is the most distant of the confirmed projects, so expect details to change before it opens.
Other projects are less certain. Impressive Resorts has reported building a new property next to its existing Punta Cana resorts, but we have not found a confirmed opening date, so it is not in our table yet. We will add projects as soon as an opening is officially confirmed.
Renovations and reopenings: Majestic Colonial, Explore Punta Cana and Zoëtry Agua
Majestic Colonial Punta Cana (reopening November 2026)
The most affordable of the three Majestic resorts on Arena Gorda closed in spring 2026 for a renovation reported at $35 to 40 million and is scheduled to reopen in November 2026, with tour operators listing November 12 as the first arrival date. All 636 rooms are being fully renovated with new bathrooms, 30 rooms are being converted into Family Suites with an outdoor jacuzzi (about 1,025 square feet, for up to six guests), and the resort is adding an all-ages water park with slides and a lazy river, a new Italian restaurant and renovated buffet, gym and pool decks. Read our Majestic Colonial Punta Cana review for the full renovation details, or our Majestic Elegance vs Mirage vs Colonial comparison to choose between the sister resorts.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana (renovation through late 2026)
The former Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana took the name Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana on March 26, 2026, as the chain replaced its Grand, Luxury, Sunlight and Fantasia labels with two new sub-brands, Explore and Escape. Since April 10, 2026, its 358 rooms across 10 villas have been under renovation, with tour operators listing an end date between late November and December 20, 2026. Works are limited to this section, and the rest of the Bahia Principe complex operates normally. Our Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana review explains what changes and what to expect if you travel during the works.
Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana (reopened November 2025)
This small wellness resort in Uvero Alto closed in July 2025 for a full renovation and reopened in November 2025, with tour operators listing arrivals from November 16. Its four restaurants received a complete makeover, and Dominican bank BHD reported financing of about $35.4 million for the renovation and expansion. Our Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana review covers the suites and Endless Privileges plan. Earlier, Riu Palace Bávaro reopened in August 2024 after an expansion that absorbed the former Riu Naiboa; see our Riu Palace Bávaro review.

Which new Punta Cana resort is right for you?
- Design-led adults-only stay without club tiers: W Punta Cana.
- Adults-only and close to the airport: Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana in Cabeza de Toro, or Lopesan Serenity Bay in Bávaro.
- Families who want everything brand-new: Moon Palace The Grand or Lopesan Splash Cove.
- Big groups, conferences and weddings: Lopesan Caoba Lagoon, with its convention center, or the large villas at Moon Palace.
- Small-scale luxury and wellness: Zoëtry Agua now, and Zoëtry Marina Cap Cana from 2027.
- Swim-out suites with a family resort next door: Secrets Macao Beach, once it opens.
- Moderate budget with freshly renovated rooms: Majestic Colonial after its reopening.
Location matters as much as newness. Uvero Alto and Macao trade longer transfers and Atlantic waves for space, while Cabeza de Toro and Bávaro are closer to the airport and often calmer. Our guide to where to stay in Punta Cana compares the zones in detail.
Is it a good idea to book a brand-new resort?
New resorts have obvious appeal: untouched rooms, modern design, and often introductory rates or perks while they build a reputation. The trade-off is uncertainty. Opening dates slip (Secrets Macao Beach has already moved from 2026 to 2027), facilities can open in phases (Moon Palace’s casino and several restaurants are not expected until early 2027), and staff need time to settle into a new operation. Renovated resorts carry a smaller version of the same risk in their first weeks back.
How to book a new opening safely
Choose a refundable rate or a package with flexible changes, ask the resort which venues will be open on your dates, read the most recent guest reviews rather than launch-day press, and avoid scheduling a wedding or milestone celebration in the first weeks after an opening or reopening.
